Kasich and Business in Ohio

On Monday, John Kasich was sworn in as Ohio’s 69th Governor and been working tirelessly to send the message that Ohio is open for business again.
Below, you can find highlights of some of the Governor's activities in his first days in office.
1. Governor Kasich was sworn in as Ohio’s 69th Governor.

2. Governor Kasich announced venture capitalist Mark Kvamme as the new Director of the Ohio Department of Development. With Gov. Kasich’s pro-jobs agenda and Mr. Kvamme’s experience facilitating high-tech and innovative job creation, Ohio has exciting times ahead.

3. On Tuesday, Governor Kasich announced Lt. Governor Mary Taylor as the new Director of the Ohio Department of Insurance. Immediately afterward, Gov. Kasich signed an Executive Order creating the Common Sense Initiative to identify and eliminate job-killing, burdensome regulations.

4. Also on Tuesday, Governor Kasich joined Senator Rob Portman in speaking at the Dayton Development Coalition’s annual conference. Again, the message was about creating a pro-business environment in Ohio. You can read more here.

5. On Wednesday, Governor Kasich led a delegation of Ohio officials to meet with business leaders from the “Big 3” auto companies at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

6. Finally, the theme this week and moving forward is that we are one team in Ohio. While visiting the Statehouse legislative lunch, Governor Kasich spoke to this point of unity.

Tea Party Commentary on the 1/12 Board of Elections Meeting

Commentary
If you’ve been following the Board of Elections brouhaha over the provisional votes cast at the ‘right poll but wrong precinct’ in the Williams/Hunter race for Judge of Juvenile Court this past November and the agreement by both sides of the Board to NOT count these votes that Tracy Hunter then took to the Federal Judge rather than the Ohio court system, you will be interested in the following regarding historical findings of the Supreme Court and federal findings on issues of this very same issue. (this ‘right poll but wrong precinct’ came about because some precincts had been consolidated to one polling building, according to Caleb Faux, but each and every table at a polling place is labeled with a precinct letter designation clear for anyone to see) Anyway this is a STATE issue, NOT an issue where the federal government has any say; this a state issue to deal with the make sure it is providing fair and balanced access to voting polls. No allegations or findings have been brought forward to indicate voter disenfranchisement or suppression.  In addition, and MOST importantly, in my humble opinion, the onus is on the registered voter to KNOW which precinct they are to vote in before entering a polling place.
Speaking with a number of the citizens present at yesterday’s meeting after it concluded was enlightening and disheartening at the same time. The depth to which the feeling and belief of the federal government in all levels of their lives as a ‘lifeline’ and the gratitude they feel for what they perceive as being given to them to make them what and who they are was tantamount to coming up against a 80’ wall of smooth hard granite to climb with a 2’ piece of cotton twine and 1 carabineer.
If you don’t have time to read the entire article below, hit the highlighted areas to get the gist of its import; then look up the 10th and 14th  amendments of the Constitution.

Results of the Hamilton County Board of Election Meeting

There were about 100 people at the Hamilton County Board of Election Meeting on the matter of who won the Juvenile Judge election last November. The candidates are  Rep. John Williams, is a Caucasian male & Dem. Tracy Hunter, is an African American woman.

Chairman Alex Triantifilou stated that the Board had just received a new directive from the district federal court that was opposite of the directive that they had receive from the Ohio State Supreme Court. The members went into executive session to discuss the matter.

When they returned they said they decided to take these directives to the County Prosecutor and have them advise the Board which Court directive they would have to follow.  Of the four members of the Board, 3 are attornies and they did not want to be in contempt of a court order.  They will ask the Prosecutor for an answer by 10:00 am on Friday 1-14-2011 on which directive to follow.  The Republican & Democrat board members were in agreement.  The decision that will be made, will have a major impact on how & which provisional votes are counted.

The meeting is open to the public.

Cincinnati City Council Member Calls for Arrest of Head of Local Republican Party

Cecil Thomas, a Cincinnati City Council Member, a former Cincinnati Cop and rumored to be interested in running against Sheriff Leis for Hamilton County Sheriff, has asked that Alex Triantafilou and Chip Gerhardt be arrested for not following Judge Mrs Stan Chesley's order to count some of the 849-Provisional Ballots [link is below].  Except, the Federal Court order was to EXAMINE the unanimously rejected Provisional Ballots, the Ohio Supreme Court said NOT to count the ballots and now the Secretary of State has said to follow the order of the Ohio Supreme Court.
